Once I started reading it I was amazed at the way the author took a normally disturbing topic but wrote it in a way that you focused on the mom and child instead of the situation.
Basically it is about a woman who was abducted when she was 19 and put in a "Room". She ends up conceiving by her abductor and has a baby boy. They are never allowed to leave the room and the book starts when the boy is 5 years old. It is a wonderful story about how this woman protects her son and tries the best she can to teach him and take care of his all the while protecting him from the life they are in.
The only missing piece is there is no love story (and I'm a sucker for love stories), except for that of a mother's love for her son.
Normally this is not the kind of book I would ever read. I am not into futuristic or sci/fi books at all. Since all of my friends were reading the series and seemed to really like them, I decided to give it a shot.
I was so pleasantly surprised! Throughout the story is an amazing love story in the making and you get so in tune with the characters that you hardly are aware how gruesome this type of life would be.
I am so excited that they are making movies out of the series because I'm really interested to see who is cast, see the costumes for the people from the Capitol see the dress of flames!
