Ch-ch-changes........(in my best David Bowie voice)

Big changes for all three of us....

Doug - As of May 1, 2011 Doug will no longer be in the USAF. He is essentially being "laid off". They need to cut their numbers and created criteria on how to select people to let go and Doug fell into the "seperate" bucket. As much as retiring from the military with full medical and retirement pay would be nice, we don't see this as a bad thing. He's been wanting out for years and this just made up his mind for him. Right now we still have lots of things to decide, but in the interim, we will stay in Ohio where I have a job and medical insurance and focus on him finishing his teaching degree. From there we can decide where we want to live. It may be him staying at home with H and doing school full time, it may be him working as a civilian on base, or getting a whole different job.

Lisa - Yesterday I finally went to the doctor to find out why I have gained all this post baby weight (we're talking 40+ lbs more than my full term pregnancy weight) and why no babies after trying for a year. They think I may have something called PCOS and did a bunch of lab work. There are hormone type meds that they can put me on for the weight and other "hairy" (yes, hairy) symptoms and there are also meds that can hopefully get me pregnant without having quadruplets. But PCOS does cause fertility issues, so if that is what it is, it may take a while, and I'm no Spring chicken.

Huston - We went to Huston's 18 month check up yesterday and he is doing great. He is 27lbs & 9 oz, 32.4 inches and has a 52.0cm head. He got two shots and two suckers and a sticker. They are happy with his motor and communication skills and he hammed it up enough that he got lots of attention and praise. He's saying tons of words and completely understands what we ask him to do (and does it!) His eyes look fine too. They did notice a small heart murmur. They said it can be common and they will need to keep an eye on it. But it's sad because even if it is nothing, for the rest of his life, he'll have to answer yes when asked that.
