You are a new pet owner. With some of your birthday money, you bought two Beta fish, Bert & Ernie. You take your responsibilities very seriously and feed them every night and always try and say goodbye to them when we leave.
While driving you have noticed the stoplights and are very interested in what the colors mean. You will announce green, go and red, stop for me and only occasionally mix them up. Luckily I haven't listened to you on a wrong one yet. Your keen sense of curiosity asked me the other day, what's that orange hand and I realized you were talking about the crosswalk. I had a bit of trouble explaining it was when the "white" guy came on that you could cross. Everything came out sounding a bit racist.
Speaking of stuttering, you are now thinking so fast you cannot get all of your words out fast enough. Most of your sentences start something like "Where, where, where, where, where did he go?" Hopefully this is a temporary thing and not sign of a serious problem, but I think you just get so excited you can't get it out.
Daddy got pretty excited about your new interest in baseball games. You kept telling us you wanted to go to "bayball" game. There weren't any home games that week, so I tried stalling you by asking why you wanted to go to a game. You said you wanted a pretzel. Guess what, a pretzel at Target did the trick and you didn't bring it up again. Sorry, Dad.
You have a new plan for time with Dad though, and it's your "adventures". You will go on walks and come home with all kinds of nature and stories. You've seen cats, birds and all kinds of cool things.
Your main toys right now are superheros, pirate accessories and cars. You love to "shake your booty" and do a little dance much like the chicken dance. Bath time is a favorite of yours and you will spend hours in there if we'll let you. We hear some pretty good conversations in there so I try to make sure I can hear you when you are playing. Let's just say you have a very good imagination.
Some of your favorite foods are pirates booty (thanks to Nama), grapes, watermelon, powdered sugar "white" donuts, chocOlate (you stress the big O), popcorn, crackers, gogurt, applesauce. Notice the pattern? Getting a sweet tooth.
I think you might have broken your momma's heart a little for the first time. You painted me this picture of a big sun with your hands and the teacher wrote "You are my sunshine" on it. You sang the song to me the whole way home from school and you were so proud. I hung the picture on the fridge and enjoyed it for about a week. Then one day I told you no more cereal. You went and took the picture down, tore the top of it off, and said "I don't want to make you happy anyMORE". Stinker.
You are still pretty excited about little brother and you have been helping me get clothes washed and put away. You are also learning which toys he'll be able to share and which ones are only for big boys. You'll even give him kisses or hugs occasionally which melts my heart and I forgive you for the sunshine stuff.
Our biggest struggle lately has been potty training. You are ready. You know it. I know it. But you will not do it. Kids at school have been calling you baby and you tell us about it, but you still won't go. You potty train your toys, but you still won't go. You take off your own diaper when it's wet and bring us a new one to put on, but you still won't go. You have even learned what "classification" your poops are. As we are changing you, you will announce "mud butt", "alien poop" or just simply tell us what you ate. Example: Daddy says "Ohhh, stinky". You reply, "I had grapes".
You are our crazy boy and we love you so much!
