Huston, you are such a little character. Your personality is forming and you are a
cute mix of sweet and ornery. You are
starting to learn to push your boundaries, but then feel bad about it later and
will crawl in bed with me later and tell me you thought about it and are
sorry. You also have a unique blend of
confident and self-conscious. You amaze
me at how social you are but then will get nervous over something so much
tinier. I think you are like me and do
not like to be in the spotlight at all.
Every now and again you will get scared to go to bed alone and are so
glad to be sharing a room with little brother now. If I make a big deal about Nolan staying in
his bed all night, you have a good excuse.
“Mommy I was just coming in to ask a question and must have fallen
asleep.” Don’t worry, I don’t mind too
much…I like the cuddles while you are willing to give them.
You are really becoming a big help with your little brother
and are starting to enjoy playing with him.
There have even been a few times when you have gotten mad at me for
disciplining him. You do still pick on
him at times, but he’s learning to hold his own. So then it turns to a wrestling match.
You are learning so much at school and I’m always amazed
when you tell me how to spell something, add numbers or tell time. But you don’t like having to focus that much
and we’ve had to work on it. You really
think recess should happen for the majority of the day, and work just part of
it. You always say things are “boring”
or not “fun”.
Fashion is not your best friend. You have an interesting way of putting an
outfit together and I pick my battles.
You hate wearing jeans and long pants.
But if you have to wear long ones, they can only be “soft”. You like knee length socks but they have to
be pushed down just right. Every shirt
is an “itchy” shirt. It’s a constant
battle.
And to you family is everything. You adore your cousins with all of your heart
and will constantly point them out. It’s
not Gavin. It’s your COUSIN Gavin. Garrett is just a friend, not a COUSIN.
You asked to sign up for basketball and the first practice
and game you loved. Now you are a having
a hard time finishing the season. Guess
we needed more on the commitment talk.
But you are sticking with it and I am so proud of you for that. And I’m secretly hoping you will still fall
in love with it.
Buddy, I missed posting about your holidays so the highlight
reel is below:
Thanksgiving
New Years Eve
Valentines Day
I love you so much and every day you surprise me with how
smart and funny you are. You are growing
into a nice little boy and I’m so proud of you.
Love you bunches!
