2011

Not really a resolution maker, but here are a few thoughts of things I would like to do better at. I’m going to skip the “eat healthier, work out more, save money” obvious things that we all should do anyway and get to the good stuff.

1. I miss reading. I really want to find some new authors that I like and make a point to read at night. Doug usually watches some tv before we go to bed and I just play around on my phone. I figure once I get going it will be hard to stop me because I used to love it so much. My biggest problem is I will stay up all night to finish a good book and I’ll need to pace myself.

2. I am going to start taking time to use all my Lancôme face washes, toners, moisturizers, etc every night. I am. I do not want to be wrinkly. Ever. I buy the stuff but just can’t make myself do it every night. Oh but I will….

3. Balance. Now that I’m back at work all balance in my life has gone out the window. I really want to keep growing personally and take more classes, try new recipes, beautify our home, enjoy time with friends. But I also have a husband, son and job that need me. I need to find a way to make time for all without any of them feeling neglected.

4. Since we moved here I have said that I want to find a church for our family to become involved with. It was on my “things to do by 35” list and I didn’t achieve it. I really want to find a place that all three of us love and give Huston the introduction he deserves. I think it will also be a nice family tradition and be important as our lives become more hectic if we have that one day we spend together.

5. Make a baby. I resisted listing this first. It is by far not the most important thing. We are happy with what we have, we are truly blessed. But I want another baby so bad. I am torn if I want a boy or girl, so I will be completely thrilled either way. I think Doug wants his little girl……and I would love to dress one. But I really really love my boy. I think I’m a boy-momma. Regardless, I want a chunky ball of wrinkles that is a perfect mixture of Doug and I, and I so hope it will happen in 2011.

6. Start my dream book. I used to have a binder where I put all thing things I wanted one day. My dream home, my dream wedding, my dream vacations. My tastes drastically changed over the years, and I’m not really sure what happened to it. When Doug retires and we settle down we plan to build a house and I need to start putting all the cool things I see together so I will know where to start.

7. I want to become more accepting of others. I have my ideas of what is right and wrong and it seems I push them on people too much. I have actually been told that I am “too moral”. I need to learn to take people for who they are and love them that way.

8. Go on more dates. Doug and I need to remember each other and not just be parents. It’s too easy to get caught up in life.

I planned to list 11 but it would just dilute the message if I stretched to think of more. I'm sure the list will continue to grow.

I hope you all have a wonderful new year and 2011 brings you everything you want!

  1. Seriously...are we the same person??? So many of your "resolutions" are mine too! I had to comment...

    1. Have you read Water for Elephants? I just finished it because I swore I was going to start reading again...and it was AWESOME! If you want to borrow my copy, I would be happy to lend it. : )

    2. I sleep in my makeup almost every night (on days that I take the time to put it on) and it is terrible for my skin. I have sworn to wash my makeup off every night in 2011... and my sister just introduced me to my new favorite beauty product...POSAY thermal spring water. Google it...it's awesome!

    3. Since deciding to stay at home, my social balance has been crazy. I rarely go out with the girls or bother getting out of pajamas during the day. So sad. I am going to do better in 2011 about making more "me" time.

    4. Have you tried Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene on Fairfield? We go to the EPIC service at 10:45 and it is awesome! A very cool vibe with lots of families our age. We were hesitant to try it because I thought Nazarenes were probably snake handlers or something crazy like that...but I am so glad we did. They are really community oriented and have given us lots of opportunities to volunteer, which we love.

    5. Yeah...you already know. We are putting our efforts on hold until this summer so that we can try for a spring/summer baby.

    6. My friend keeps a dream book and I have sweared I will start one. Not sure if I will make it happen, I have a hard enough time keeping up with the coupon book. : )

    8. I am always telling Jason that we need to date more. I'm going to make it happen in 2011.

So glad I met you! : ) Hope to see you on Monday! Diana
