OOOOOOOOOOOOOOkahoma is the Place to Be!

We made our first trip home in over a year this month.  We were able to plan it over alumni weekend, so it was so much fun seeing everyone.  We were gone 11 days which was a little long for Huston, he had a few meltdowns crying, "I want to go on airplane, I want to go home".  But don't let that fool you - he LOVED all the attention and country life.  Here is proof:

We spent time out on Papa's farm, we went the Alumni parade and class cookout, went to see Grannie and James and stayed with Nana Loretta.  Then I had to go work in Dallas for a few days and you spent one night with Memaw and Papa and one night with Deda.  Then a few more days in Oklahoma and back on the road.  Even though it was too long to be away from home, it wasn't long enough.

Huston you have had such a busy month, that I am writing your blog almost two weeks late!  We had a 11 day trip to Oklahoma, which we found out was way too long for you to be away from home.

You are into superheros in a major way (you add guy to the end of all of them, "Green Lantern guy") and it so funny to watch you play with them.  You were even potty training Spiderman the other day.  You also have found a love of dinosaurs and roar and watch "Dinosaur Train" over and over.  I think your Dad is also very excited that you have found a love for baseball.  After going to a few game this season, you will ask him, "Daddy go baseball game?"  Of course when you get there you just want to run around and not actually watch baseball, but he'll take what he can get.

Your other new things is to pull my bangs out of my pony tail or bun and put them over my eyes and say, "Princess".  Not sure why messy bangs equal princess, but you love to do it.

My absolute favorite story this month is "Goodnight Sweetheart".  I used to sing this to you when you were going to sleep, but haven't in a while.  I never really thought you noticed it, but the other day we were laying in bed and you said "Mommy, sing Goodnight Sweetheart, dun, dun, dun, dun".  My heart melted.

You love bathtime and each night you think very hard about what toy you want to take a bath with.  Right now a shark and horse are always in there, but you alternate out who visits them.

You had your first friend/cousin stay the night too.  We had a lot of fun, we ordered pizza, went swimming, watch cartoons and had a glow stick bath.  You love your second cousin Parker and get so excited when he comes over.

Your birthday may be a bit of a production this year, you finally understand it.  On the commute home the other day you listed off everything you wanted for your birthday - superhero guys, toy story, lightning mcqueen, mater, spiderman, green lantern guy, mickey mouse.  I asked what kind of cake and got just as long of an answer.  You said, "I want more alot".  I better start looking for some good deals.....

You are our special boy and we just love you so much.  You make us proud every day of how sweet, smart and well mannered you are.

Baby #2

Here is the newest addition to our family!  There is really a baby in there.  Going to ultrasounds is always special, there is nothing like seeing that little flicker of a heartbeat and then watching it grow into your baby.  I have to say this one was really extra special though.  We've had a really rough time getting pregnant this time around and the minute this little one got on screen he/she started waving at me as if to say "Hi Mom, everything is ok in here".  The NP even commented on so much movement for being such a little baby.

This pic was taken at 10 weeks, I'm 11 weeks now.  Almost out of the first trimester and excited to get past the tired/sickly part and start getting the "pregnancy glow" everyone talks about!

We are all so excited about this new baby and can't wait to meet him/her on or around Nov 12th!

Huston - April 2012

Studying the box

Huston, you are Superhero obsessed!  Gramma Marie got you Spiderman swim trunks, a Spiderman top, a Spiderman bucket and Spiderman on a motorcycle.  I've never seen you play with one toy so consistently.  You also want to watch Spiderman, Superman and Green Lantern all of the time.  Luckily your Daddy knows all the characters because I struggle, and I don't think you are outgrowing this anytime soon.

You are growing up so fast.  You have a complete vocabulary now and I'm amazed at all the words you say.  And the phrases.  Here are some of my favorites:

• I don't want _____, ANYMORE.  (lots of the stress on anymore)
• Awww, cute. (anytime you see a animal or baby)
• Mommy, I miss you - or - Mommy, I need you.  (this is when you want me to pick you up)
• What's sound?  (you want to know what every noise is)
• Mommy, relax.  (when you want me to sit down)
• That tickles.  (basically anything that touches you)
• Hmmmmm, (when asked a question, complete with tapping finger tapping on your chin)
• Get off me (when Daddy "traps" you)

This one needs a little explaining.  So when you play "ready set go" with Daddy, it consists of you basically running and tackling Daddy.  But every now and then he will flip you and "trash talk" you.  It started with "All Night Babbbbyyyyy".  You say it when you get him too.  Daddy tried to mix it up the other day and said "I'm on you like gravy on chicken steak".  This confused you a bit, but you came back with "Ummmm, I get you, chicken nuggets!"

You are also very independent.  You want to dress yourself and sometimes you have some killer combinations.  But, if it were up to you, you would wear pjs all day.  You also like to get your own food, drink, etc.  Lucky for us, it also means you now get into putting away toys and dishes too.

Birthdays are your new thing.  The minute you hear birthday you talk about cake and presents.  All day long on Daddy's birthday you would hug him and say "Birthday Love".  You also give us birthday presents pretty regularly....typically something you find and stuff into something else.

You also really liked Easter!  We went on an Easter egg hunt with cousin Parker, but it wasn't really your thing.  Then we colored eggs with Nama and Grandpa.  Easter morning we got up and went to Nama's and you found your Easter basket and hunted eggs then the whole family came over for dinner.

You also had your first sleep over....somewhere other than a grandparents.  You stayed the night with your cousin Parker so Mommy and Daddy could go to a baseball game.  You had a blast and stayed in the spare room like a big boy!

Huston, we love you so much!  You make us laugh smile and crazy all at the same time.  You have also learned that Mommy has a baby in her belly.  Every night you ask to see the baby and put your belly on it.  I say "Belly on belly" and you laugh uncontrollably.  You'll even check and see if the baby is cold, and cover up my belly if so.  You do think that they baby is IN my belly button though...you seem to not notice the large baby bump above the belly button.  We are so happy that you are already being such a great big brother!



snooze button

i have never been one to need that much sleep.  oh my that has changed.  i literally want to curl up and hibernate for a week or two.  how can i make this happen?

Oops, we did it again.

So the other day at dinner my Dr. Pepper didn't taste right and I decided I preferred a Coke.  That's when I knew.  Add that up with total exhaustion, raging hormones, acne and dizziness and I decided to confirm it.  Yup, we are pregnant again.  If you are in my "circle" you already know this, but we have held off any broad announcement due to it being so early.  Not many read my blogs anyway, so I decided to start talking about this, um, journey.  This pregnancy feels so different already.  I'm weak, dizzy and nauseous.  I had to quit taking my anxiety medicine, so I am on edge.  I'm hormonal.  And frankly, I'm scared.  We've had trouble staying pregnant and I'm only 5-6 weeks based on my HcG.  March 30th we go in for our first ultrasound, and I'll feel so much better.

Since I'm Celexa-free I've also got a lot on my mind.  What if it's a girl?  Can I do a girl?  Do I still like the name Autumn, it's what I've always wanted, but now it's reality?  Wait, I don't even know if it's a girl.  But it would be fun to dress a girl.  But a girl will hate me one day.  I'm a boy momma.  Huston needs a brother.  Or a sister.  If it's a boy they can share a room, and clothes and interests.  But if it's a girl I can do a girl nursery.  And get pedis.  Do we need a bigger home?  Will I work after having two?  Can we afford daycare for two?  Will Huston get enough activities if I stay home?  Where should we live?  Why is "kids" so much scarier than "kid"?  Is my car big enough?  I need to start reading how to make Huston feel included.  What if I'm too old to have a healthy baby? Wait, that is college x 2.  First car x 2.  Everything x 2.  Will I ever sleep?  Where is my pump?  We'll need a new stroller.  How would I do a girl nursery?  Ugh.

Huston is so cute about it all.  He is very excited that there is a baby in momma's belly.  Sometimes he has a baby in his belly too.  Then he says, "nooooooooooo" momma's belly.  He goes back and forth between brother or sister.

Doug is cute about it too.  He wants him a little Daddy's girl, but I think he is also terrified of the powers she will have over him.

It's really really early to start blogging and thinking and planning, but I can't help it.  It feels too real.

Huston - March 2012

This picture pretty much sums you up.  You are the biggest goofball!  You are such a funny boy and you can always make your momma laugh. Even when I'm trying to be mad.

We had a fun month, you went to see Toy Story Disney on Ice, and you loved every minute of it.  We went to a St. Patrick's parade and carnival and went went to the park.  A lot.  You are becoming a bit of a daredevil and also had lots of "owies" this month (strawberry on your elbow, scraped arm, scraped knee, HUGE gooseegg, and shins full of bruises).  You have learned how to use the scooter at Nama's (never mind that it is your cousin Jazzmin's and is princess pink) and you LOVE to skateboard with your Uncle Paul Paul.

Some of your funny sayings lately are:

• You hear a stomach growl, "I heard your tummy talking!"
• "Play toys?"
• We tell you to do something, you roll your eyes "Ahhhhkay".
• After bath time you run around the house "I'm NAKED BOY!"
• Nama blows you kisses, "I put it in my heart."
• "My turn, my turn"
• Wrestling with Daddy, "ALLLL night, baby!"

We have to start watching what we say too, because you told Daddy that Momma was a "turkey butt" the other day.  You asked Momma "Daddy beat you?" when you saw a bruise on my leg and have turned our playful "shut up" to each other to a very non-playful one when you want.

You have also learned the words to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star", "Happy Birthday" and usually morph those two together with the alphabet and numbers.  You count to 8, sometimes higher and can do your ABC's pretty good.  You are obsessed with colors and shapes and point them out on everything you see.

You have also found a new love.  Super Heros.  You have decided Spiderman and Superman are your favorite "superguys".  You have also found Star Wars and still love your Yo Gabba Gabba and Toy Story guys.  They are all your "guys".

You also moved out of your toddler bed into a twin bed and now there is so much room.  You sleep with lots of toys, and sometimes momma when she falls asleep with you.

To get you ready for your first visit, you went to the dentist with momma.  You got right in my mouth with the hygienist and looked for a bit, decided it was no big deal and played the rest of the time.  Then when they told me I was doing a good job flossing and brushing, you informed them that your brush your teeth too and did a demonstration.

You still love "school" and tell me all about your friends the whole commute home.  You are learning a lot there and on sharing day you take toys that specific kids will like.  The other day you were so excited to take Spiderman, because "Bodi like Spiderman".

Now, all the cuteness aside, you are getting pretty stubborn.  You will repeat things back at me in a mean little voice, tell me no and even occasionally hit at me.  Notice I don't say that you do this to Dad.  If Dad looks at you the right way, you say "No Spanks!"  Obviously I need to get better at my spanks.... 

I can't write a post without telling you how handsome, smart, funny and amazing you are.  Every day your make us so proud and make our hearts swell.  We love you!
