Best Friends

We have had a lot of changes going on in our household, one of them being that I left my job so that I could start focusing on our move.  I decided to take advantage of this time and take Huston to Oklahoma to see my family.  I haven't been a SAHM for about 9 months (I stayed home with him the first year) and we have had so much fun!

Our road trip was about 13 hours, so we split it up into two days and I made regular stops at play areas so that he wouldn't be stuck in the car for too long.  At one playground a grandmotherly woman was asking me all about him.

It took me by surprise when she asked me, "Is he your best friend?"  When I thought about it, yes, he is in a way.  At least he is everything you would want a best friend to be.  He shows me unconditional love, prefers nobodies company over mine, is full of laughter, is trusting, smart, funny and a joy to be around.  I always say that my husband, Doug, is my best friend.....but I think he might be tied with Huston.

The woman explained how much she loved that time with her kids and how being at home with them, they became her best friends.  I really have missed this time with him.  I wish there was a way that I could become a SAHM again, even if I had to watch other children to do so.  Something to think about....
